Repair Hub

We live in a throw away society, where items have short lives and people have forgotten how to repair things themselves. Knowing how to make repairs is a life skill in living sustainably. Our Repair Hub is a free meeting place all about repairing things - together.

In conjunction with the Waste Not Hub, the Repair Hub meets every second Saturday of the month. Here, you will find volunteers with tools, materials and knowledge to work with you to try and make the repairs you need. So bring along an item that needs tending to and let's see what we can do!

Repair Hub - how does it work?

Our Repair Hub offers friendly assistance to repair, maintain or modify everyday items, learn practical skills and keep useful things out of landfill. Repairs are on a first come, first served basis and depending on demand, we may place item and time limits per person.

The service is completely free aside from any major parts required, which the owner will need to purchase. We have a donation box if you care to make a donation, but this is completely optional on your part. We use donations to buy consumables and tools and make improvements to our workspace.

We will have a go at repairing most everyday items:

  • Sharpen knives, scissors, saws, tools, chainsaw chains
  • Small appliances, machines and electronics such as toasters, lamps, coffee machines
  • Textiles – clothing, cushions, curtains, bags and toys.
  • Everything else including small furniture, toys, battery tools, garden tools

Not all things are repairable by us. Some repairs may be too costly and some items too broken, too specialised or too valuable.

Now on every month!

In conjunction with the monthly Waste Not Hub, the Repair Hub meets every Second Saturday, 10.00am – 12.30pm at DWELL, 78 St Leonards Road Ascot Vale.

Bring in an item listed above, to sit with one of our repairers and learn to fix your own things!

Want to help repair? We are always looking for new volunteers to join the fun, in the fight against waste – come on down to our next Repair Hub to chat.
