This collective is all about maximizing the use of materials and minimizing waste! We focus on Repair, Reuse, Rehome, Refurbish, Refuse, Reduce, Rot, and Recycle—basically, rethinking how we approach everything! Volunteers are keen to discover and try out ways to turn one way lines of production into circular transactions within our community. One step at a time.
" Waste isn't waste until you waste it. Up until that point it's a material "
As well as donating the funds you raise through the container deposit scheme (CDS) to MVS, you can make direct donations to us to help us cpntinue our work. Your donation can enable us to inspire our community to take local action on climate change, at what ever stage they are in the journey and continue to advocate and lobby for systemic change at a local level. You can help create a world where local business thrive and materials are respected.
Interested in learning more or taking control of your waste? Volunteering is a great way to gain knowledge and make an impact at the same time. We welcome volunteers to assist with events we organize or attend, as well as help with small projects and campaigns. In 2025, we’re focusing on textiles, food waste, and polystyrene. However, if you have your own project or idea you’d like to bring to life, we’d love to hear from you! Click the contact us at the top or use the o-ordinators emails below.
All the Rethinking Waste events are put together by a team of amazing volunteers. To help achieve this and link into activities of the other collectives, we have two Rethinking Waste Co-ordinators, Teresa and Veronica. Both love textiles and food and despise polystyrene, But Veronica tends to organise anything to do with textiles, Teresa anything to do with food. Email them!

There are other community groups doing amazing things within our community. So if none of the above is your thing, then these groups may be of interest to you. We often run events in partnership with them.
