Every child deserves the best start and we know that learning gets harder when it’s hot. Yet often schools have low tree coverage, dark roofs and vast areas of heat absorbing asphalt and synthetic turf.
In 2024, we are gearing up to call on the State Government and private schools to boost tree cover and switch dark surfaces to lighter, cooler and more natural alternatives.
There is much debate about Glyphosate, so we are calling on Council to exercise caution and phase out its use, especially around kinders, playgrounds, dog parks, waterways and other sensitive environments.
This is an ongoing campaign so while we wait for results, we are also actively working on running hand weeding events in conjunction with Council to reduce the use of herbicides.
